Zakifo Festival coming soon

Zakifo, now in its third year, will occur from May 26 to 28 at the Blue Lagoon shoreline promenade in Durban with three phases, a cultural area, food carts and stalls, beer bars, local brokers and interactive art exhibits.

Zakifo Festival organizers are bringing together musicians from different places such as Jamaica, Belgium, France, Ghana, Niger, Congo, Tanzania, South Africa and Lesotho for a three-day spectacular event. The organizers were Sipho Sithole, Jerome Galabert and Andy Davis.

“Zakifo is in a family of celebrations. For us to really bring value to the artists and crowds you must be a part of an execution circuit,” says Sithole.

Galabert, who runs the Sakifo Festival in Reunion, says he has a solid conviction that the artists in the line-up will change the way people see celebrations in South Africa.

“There is an awesome local and global line-up. When we began the celebration individuals thought it would be a one-time show. We have a lot of surprises throughout the following 10 days.”

Day passes are on sale and tickets will be available at the entrance.
